These pay-per-click methods can be very successful depending upon the business you are in.

Not everyone can afford to pay for a click-thru when statistically only one in a thousand visitors (or more) generates income!
My basic techniques simply optimise your pages for the search engines.

Good, well optimised pages will get good rankings in the free search results AND these results are the most frequently visited!

Do you click on pay-per-click results? I don't.
Well ... maybe very, very occasionally.

Content
I cannot stress strongly enough how important good, original content is to your website. Shared content (affilliates etc) is dilluted content. If you want to be successful you need to work on your content. If you spend the time developing excellent web pages filled with information then marketing those pages becomes easier.
